Free spins: count the stake, not the number

Free spins are the most visible kind of casino promotion — fifty spins, a hundred spins, "extra spins" on a new release. They are also the easiest to misread, because the number says very little on its own. This page explains how free spins usually work and what decides their real value; Ninja's current spin offers, if any, are shown on the operator's site and in the account, and we do not publish them. The overview of all bonus types is on the bonus page; the home page has the full guide.

The value of a spin

Each free spin is played at a fixed stake that the terms specify, usually the slot's minimum or close to it. The real value of an offer is therefore the number of spins multiplied by that stake. For example, 100 hypothetical spins at 0.10 euros represent 10 euros of play, while 20 spins at 1 euro represent 20 euros. Spins are also tied to one or a few named slots, and the slot's volatility matters: on a high-volatility game such as Book of Dead, most sets of spins return little and a few return a lot; on a medium-volatility game such as Wild Bandito, results tend to be more even.

Where free spins come from

Spins may be credited all at once or in daily batches, and unused spins usually expire after a set number of days.

How this affects your withdrawal

What happens to the winnings is the key question. In many offers, the total won from the spins is credited as bonus money and has to be wagered a number of times before it can be withdrawn; some offers also cap the cashable amount. Other offers are "wager-free": winnings go straight to the real-money balance and can be withdrawn like any other money. The terms state which model applies, and the difference is enormous. While free-spin winnings are still under wagering, a withdrawal request can be blocked or can remove those winnings. Once they are free, the payout follows the normal path — Pending, Processing, Approved, Sent — with identity verification before the first one. The withdrawal guide explains it step by step, and the wagering guide shows how to calculate what remains.

Small checks that save money

Use the spins before they expire, play them on the slot they were issued for, and do not raise your stake while the resulting bonus is being wagered if the terms set a maximum bet. These three slips account for most lost free-spin winnings.

Free spins questions

What is a free spin worth?
Its stake value, which the terms state. Fifty spins at a small fixed stake are worth that stake times fifty in play, regardless of how large the headline number looks.
Are free spin winnings paid as cash?
Sometimes, but more often they are credited as bonus money with a wagering requirement. Offers marked as wager-free pay winnings as real money; the terms say which applies.
Can I choose the slot for my free spins?
Usually not. Free spins are tied to one or a few named slots. The volatility of that slot affects how the spins are likely to turn out.
