Football betting: the markets worth understanding
Football is the sport with the deepest betting markets almost everywhere, from the biggest European leagues and international tournaments to lower divisions. Whether your Ninja account includes a sportsbook is something to check in the account menu — we cannot confirm it from the outside. If it does, these are the markets you will meet first, and the details that decide whether a bet is good value. The general basics are on the betting hub.
1X2 and double chance
The match result market has three outcomes: home win (1), draw (X) and away win (2). Because the draw is a real possibility in football, a team that "should win" is often priced lower than people expect. Double chance combines two outcomes — for example home win or draw — and pays accordingly less. Draw no bet removes the draw: if the match is drawn, the stake is returned.
Handicaps
When one team is a heavy favourite, handicaps make the market interesting. Asian handicaps are especially common in football because quarter and half lines remove or split the draw. A favourite at −1.5 must win by two goals; at −1 a one-goal win returns the stake; at −0.75 half of the stake is settled on −0.5 and half on −1. Read the settlement table for the exact line once — afterwards it becomes second nature.
Goals markets
Over/under 2.5 goals is the classic totals line; both teams to score is the other big goals market. These markets depend heavily on team style, injuries and weather, and they are less tied to which team wins, which is why many bettors prefer them. Note that standard markets usually cover regular time only; extra time and penalties are settled separately.
In-play football
Football is the most popular in-play sport. Prices move after goals, red cards and even dangerous attacks, and markets are suspended briefly at key moments. A bet slip can be rejected if the price changes before it is accepted. Cash out, where offered, settles a bet early at a quoted value that includes a margin.
Bonuses, winnings and the withdrawal path
Football is where most betting promotions appear: free bets for accumulators, boosted odds on big matches, insurance on a first bet. Each offer has its own qualifying conditions — minimum odds, number of legs, expiry. If a condition is still open when you request a withdrawal, the request may be blocked or the promotional funds removed, so read the terms first. Once the balance is free, a withdrawal goes through Pending, Processing, Approved and Sent; the first one usually waits for identity verification. Details are on the withdrawal page, and the different bet structures are on the bet types page.
Betting on football can absorb a lot of time because there is a match almost every hour of the week. Set a weekly budget and stick to it; the responsible gambling page lists tools that help.
